What is Vexillology?
Vexillology is a science that specializes in studying flags and the emblems on them. In addition to ancient and modern flags, the research scope of vexillology also includes the design, production and use of flags, and attempts to understand and explain modern society by using flags. The English "Vexilology" of vexillology originates from the Latin "vexillum" and the suffix "- logic", and was created by Whitney Smith, an American and an authority of vexillology, in 1960.
